Scholarships

The Michael Lloyd Pye Scholarship Foundation was established in 2004 in honor of his strong belief in education and his tremendous will to help students. Mr. Pye began his dedicated career as a math instructor with the Detroit Public School System. He stressed that students learn the meaning of numbers. He inspired students to use their creative abilities to solve mathematical problems. Mr. Pye continued his educational pursuits by obtaining his Masters Degree in Secondary Elementary and Specialist Degree in Administration. He had high expectations for all his students as well as himself.

The Michael Lloyd Pye Freshman Initiative Scholarship, The Michael Lloyd Pye CSU Scholarship and The John L. Pye Scholarship were established to encourage college students to pursue their educational dreams and to achieve educational success in the area of mathematics or education.

The Michael Lloyd Pye Scholarship Foundation wishes to continue Mr. Pye's ideology, steadfastness, fondness, for education, and his love of mathematics, by making these scholarships available.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements


• Full-time student enrolled at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio


• Upperclassman status (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior students) at the time of submission


• A state of Michigan high school graduate or current resident of the State of Michigan • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above


• Demonstrated leadership and/or volunteer experiences in extracurricular and work-related activities


• Preference given to Students Majoring in Mathematics or Education



JOHN L. PYE SCHOLARSHIP


$2000.00

Candidate Eligibility Requirements


• Full time student enrolled at The Ohio State University.


• Upperclassman status (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior students) at time of submission


• Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above


• Demonstrated leadership and/or volunteer experiences in extracurricular and work-related activities


• Majoring in Engineering


• Black or African American Student
